Good Image Quality
Optoma HD30B projects the image in full-HD resolution and unlike many other projectors it can display 24 frames per second, making it well suited for movies and games. The image is smooth and soft even with fast camera movement and sudden motion. The image quality is also quite good, with high brightness, vivid colors and good black levels.
The menus are not the most intuitive we've seen, but we like that the remote is back-lit and there are plenty of useful features. The only thing we lack is the lens shift for more flexible placement in the room.
Impressive 3D
Watching cool 3D movies on small TV screen is not always optimal, but on a large projector screen the 3D effect comes to its full potential. The projector uses DLP technology that provides a very sharp 3D experience without annoying crosstalk. Two pairs of active 3D glasses are included and more can be purchased if needed.
The internal speakers are of course no substitute for a proper sound system, but it sounds surprisingly good, and for spontaneous viewing they work fine. As usual, fan noise is expected, but it stays around 26 decibels in eco-mode which is acceptable.
