Philips HTL4110 Review

Decent And Affordable

Philips HTL4110 review

With movies the surround effects work quite well, even if it lacks a bit in sound imaging, dynamics and intensity. Personally I prefer this effect on many movies because the sound image size compensates for the slightly thinner sound.

SUMMARY

Philips HTL4110 is a fairly cheap sound bar. It is quite large and has Bluetooth with NFC communication.

PLUS
Good price.
Juicy bass.
Many inputs.
MINUS
Lacks a little dynamics.
Bass not very nuanced.
Audio Delay via optical input.

Philips really impress with an affordable sound. It sounds full, with rich bass, even if we wished it had an output for an external subwoofer. The bass sound is more swollen than nuanced and can be attenuated slightly. A movie like ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness‘ is so dynamic that too much bass only stresses the speaker which can easily start to rattle. Adjusting the bass will get you a better balance. Unfortunately, the HTL4110 has a little audio delay in the digital inputs. Instead, use an analog connection or a TV with ARC compliant HDMI output.

Philips HTL4110 drivers

Philips HTL4110 work quite well with music in stereo, although the bass tries to do more than it can handle. This is easily fixed by adjusting the bass level. With wireless bluetooth the music drops a bit in resolution, but the sound is acceptable enough and makes this feature nice to have. If you have an NFC-enabled Android phone, it is enough to keep it next to the audio socket to set the bluetooth function. Cool!

A width of 27,5 inches means that HTL4110 look good with big TVs of up to 55 inches. The bar also has many inputs. Thanks to a clear display you´ll have a great overview of what´s going on.
